Student Activities

The staff at L.E. Gable Middle School is dedicated to preparing students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens now and in the future. Our goal is provide students the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular programs such as organizations, clubs, athletic teams and performing groups while maintaining academic excellence through a quality educational curriculum.

Academic Team
Advisors - Ms. Dozier, Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. Gray, Mrs. Sinclair

Students who are interested in trying out for the Academic Team take a written and oral test on current events and general knowledge. The students with the highest scores are invited to be on the team. The team usually participates in the Fall Knowledge Master Open and the Spring Knowledge Master Open. They also participate in the annual Spartanburg Battle of the Brains.

Beta Club
Advisor - Mrs. Amick

Beta Club is a service organization that is committed to making our school and community a better place. Students work on two service projects a year. Students with a 3.5 semester average in the following academic subjects: reading/language arts, math, science, and social studies are invited to join the Beta Club. The 3.5 GPA will be calculated using the following: A=4 pts. B=3 pts. C=2 pts. D=1 pt.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Advisor - Mr. Comer

The Gable FCA meets every other week in the multipurpose room at 7:30 am. Any Gable student is welcome to come for food, fellowship, and to enjoy our visiting speakers.

Student Council
Advisors - Mr. O'Brien, Mrs. Stackhouse, Mrs. Thomas

All student body officers are required to submit an application and record a speech as part of the election process. Student body officers are elected in September of each school year. Student council members will meet periodically during the school year. Several projects are undertaken each year such as a canned food drive, a fundraiser for Operation Christmas Child, and fundraisers for Relay for Life.
